Early Life and Education
Manushi Chillar was born to Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, a scientist at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Dr. Neelam Chhillar, a professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. Growing up in a family of academics, Manushi excelled in her studies and extracurricular activities.
She completed her schooling at St. Thomas’ School in New Delhi, where she was an exceptional student and actively participated in various cultural activities. Manushi then pursued a medical degree at Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonipat, Haryana. Alongside her academic pursuits, she also trained in Kuchipudi, an Indian classical dance form, under renowned dancers Raja and Radha Reddy.
Beauty Pageant Journey
Manushi Chillar’s journey in the world of beauty pageants began with her participation in Femina Miss India 2017. Representing the state of Haryana, she won the title of Miss India 2017 on June 25, 2017. Her win at the national level paved the way for her to represent India at the Miss World 2017 pageant held in Sanya, China.
On November 18, 2017, Manushi was crowned Miss World 2017, becoming the sixth Indian woman to win the prestigious title. Her victory brought immense pride to the country, and she was celebrated for her grace, poise, and intelligence throughout the competition.
